Overview

Hammerite No.1 Rust Beater Metal Paint provides a high build finish to use on heavily pitted areas of rust that also prevents new rust from forming. This easy to use rust beater not only kills rust but also primes and undercoats all in one. It can be used on fire surrounds, metal railings, metal gates and garage doors to name a few. Available in grey, beige and dark brown this is the ideal primer and undercoat for use with Hammerite topcoats.

Preparation

Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dust, dirt, grease, flaking paint or rust.

• Remove all loose rust and paint with a wire brush.
• Remove grease with and allow to dry.
• Remove dirt and salt deposits with dilute detergent, rinse with fresh water and allow to dry.
• Abrade clean steel with sandpaper to help adhesion.

Application

Before applying Hammerite No.1 Rust Beater Metal Paint we recommend to test a small area to ensure it adheres to the surfaces.

• Do not apply in temperatures below 8°C or above 25°C.
• Stir thoroughly before use and apply using a brush.
• Hammerite recommend to apply 2 coats, allowing 6 hours between coats.
• Top coat can be applied after 6 hours but for best results allow 24 hours for the surface to dry.
